A chronicle of Becca's battles with Leukemia from her point of view (the first time through) and her parents' after that. Read from the bottom post up to the top post.
It's not too late!
One more day to save $5! Please join us this Saturday, May 9th, for the 9th Annual Butterfly Walk and 5K for CancerFree KIDS! In case you weren't aware, Becca designed the t-shirt for the walk this year, and her bone marrow donor Matthew is joining our team. For more information or to register/donate, go to www.butterflywalk.com orhttps://runsignup.com/beccasbelievers2015 . Be sure to list "Becca's Believers" as the team and "Trisha Kniskern" as the captain so that your contribution or registration goes towards our team. Let's continue to celebrate Becca's (and so many others') strength, courage, and resilience while supporting an awesome organization with a critical mission! Also, listen to the Scott Sloan show on WLW tomorrow morning, as Becca is being interviewed with Ellen Flannery, the founder of CancerFree KIDS!
Photos from the walk (and an update on what's new) coming soon...
Put it on your calendar! The 2017 Butterfly Walk for CancerFree Kids will take place May 13, 2017. The funds raised from this walk will go towards pediatric cancer research. Our team, "Becca's Believers," has raised more than $40,000 over the last eight years! It is a one-mile walk, and there are lots of fun family events during the day. The event takes place at Cottell Park in Mason, and it's such a blast. For more information or to join us or donate, go to http://butterflywalk.com.
Be sure to list "Becca's Believers" as the team and "Trisha Kniskern" as the captain so that your contribution or registration goes toward our team. Hope you can join us in walking/running to find a cure for childhood cancer!
Many family members and friends have asked if they can give blood to help Becca out, and we really appreciate their eagerness to give. While directed donation is possible, it is quite difficult to arrange and takes up to three days. Without us knowing exactly when Becca will need blood, a directed donation might go to waste. All of the kids on this floor at Children's Hospital, and any children like Becca who have leukemia, need blood and platelets fairly often. If you'd like to help, please contact Hoxworth Blood Center to donate blood or platelets, both of which can help children like Becca.
Thank you so much for your willingness to help save a life!
